A picture of the Virgin Mary on the front-cover
On the frontcover of the first edition of "Mutter- und Koselieder" (1844) a
mother with her two children is standing in a niche like a madonna in a
church (A 17). At her feet she has a rose, an attribute to the Virgin Mary.
The child on her right arm has a ball on a string in his hand. The ball is
with Fröbel a symbol of Unity (God) and Universe.
Though Fröbel was a Protestant the Catholic The Virgin Mary Cult was of
great interest to him. He thought that the Virgin Mary, Mother Nature and
the earthly mother was a Unity.
